George Crabbe (1754-1832), known as Aldeburgh's Poet, was educated at Bungay and later Stowmarket, was married in Beccles and for 13 years had a living as a clergyman in Parham, Great Glemham and Rendham, eventually gaining poetic fame and capturing the imagination of his peers with his ''realistic narrative poetry'' based on the middle and working classes of the time
